A Day in the HVAC Field Keeping San Diego Cool and Comfortable

Morning Brief – 7:00 AM

The day starts early at Jackson & Foster’s main office. After checking the day’s forecast (predicted high of 88°F in El Cajon), I load up the service van with common replacement parts and diagnostic equipment.

First Call – 8:30 AM

My first stop takes me to Scripps Ranch, where a homeowner reported their AC unit making unusual noises. These early morning calls are ideal since we can get to work before the day heats up.

Midday Rush – 12:00 PM

After two successful maintenance visits in La Jolla, it’s time for an emergency call in Lemon Grove. Summer in Southern California means our phones are constantly ringing with residents needing immediate assistance.

Common Issues We Handle:

  • AC system diagnostics and repairs
  • Heating system maintenance
  • Air filter replacements
  • Thermostat programming
  • Ductwork inspection and cleaning

Afternoon – 3:00 PM

The afternoon heat in Lakeside is intense as I complete a complete system installation. These jobs require precision and patience, especially when working in tight attic spaces.

End of Day – 6:00 PM

Wrapping up with paperwork and preparing for tomorrow’s schedule. Being an HVAC technician in the San Diego area means staying ready for anything – from coastal humidity in Carmel Mountain to desert-like conditions in El Cajon.

The satisfaction of helping families stay comfortable in their homes makes every challenging day worthwhile. Tomorrow brings new opportunities to serve our community’s heating and cooling needs.

Tips for Homeowners:

  • Schedule regular maintenance checks
  • Change air filters monthly
  • Keep outdoor units clear of debris
  • Monitor unusual sounds or odors

Remember, preventative maintenance is always more cost-effective than emergency repairs!
